Kirkleatham councillor Peter Grogan said he was made aware on Tuesday (August 11) morning that a new traveller encampment had set up on Kirkleatham Showground, in Redcar. Travellers have set up their second site in Redcar as the local councillor has branded it 'unfortunate and unacceptable'. Cllr Grogan said Redcar and Cleveland Council has been made aware and that correct procedures to move the encampment on have been started. This is the second site set up in Redcar this weekend. A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Officers are aware of an encampment on Kirkleatham Showground in Redcar and are liaising with Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council."
