People in Halesworth living along Holton Road to the east of the town claim the route has become increasingly dangerous for pedestrians and motorists. A petition, organised by Mark Limbrick, is urging Suffolk County Council to introduce a mandatory 20mph speed limit zone on the stretch between the Halesworth Post Office roundabout and the entrance to Hill Farm Road. "This increasingly busy and dangerous major road, with its narrow, congested and, where Holton village begins at Holton St Peter Primary School, has no footpath at all, which becomes a major concern for many parents, pedestrians, and road users." They said it would be the first clear speed limit reminder ever installed on Holton Road, helping to make drivers more aware of the restrictions.
