Residents saw and heard the medical helicopter in the town on Saturday afternoon as it landed in Victoria Park. The callout was in response to reports that a rugby league player had suffered a serious injury in a game that was subsequently abandoned. “We would also like to pay thanks to North West Air Ambulance Charity and North West Ambulance Service paramedics for their fantastic treatment and care. “The player suffered a dislocated and broken ankle, and we wish him a speedy recovery.” It is the second successive weekend that the air ambulance has landed in the town, with the helicopter again attending Victoria Park the previous week, as well as Howley.
