Warrington Borough Council has rejected plans for a four-bedroom bungalow, a detached garage, and associated works on land near Birchwood Golf Club.
In a statement, Birchwood Golf Club said that it supported the intended use of the land for a single dwelling and described the scheme as a 'small-scale form of development that is proportionate to its setting'.
The club added: "The proposal will provide important financial support to the continued operation and long-term viability of Birchwood Golf Club, a valued facility.
"This support will contribute directly to sustaining the business and helping to safeguard existing employment at the golf club, aligning with supporting rural businesses, protecting jobs, and promoting economic sustainability."
Further concerns included highway safety, pedestrian risk, and the creation of a precedent for future development on golf course land.
