Findhorn-based volunteers rescued a person from a broken down motor boat yesterday morning after the vessel reached out for help off the Moray Firth coast. The MIRO crew shared that they were were paged by Aberdeen Coastguard to attend the report of a broken down motor boat at around 11am approximately two miles east of Lossiemouth. “Whilst enroute, Aberdeen Coastguard updated the crew that the casualty vessel was positioned 4.5 miles east of Lossiemouth and 3/4 mile offshore,” they said. The rescue team arrived on scene at around 11.40am and found one person on the casualty vessel, which had lost propulsion. A MIRO spokesperson said: “A crew member was transferred onto the vessel, and a long tow was prepared, allowing the casualty vessel to be towed Lossiemouth Harbour.”
