On this day in 1972, investigators said arson was the likely cause of the fire that destroyed Fargo’s high school football stadium.
Here is the complete story as it appeared in the paper that day:ADVERTISEMENTArson Given As Stadium Fire CauseArson was given as the probable cause of a fire which demolished the high school stadium at Fargo Wednesday night.
The stadium was built in 1939, and has since served home football games of Fargo Central, and later Fargo North and South, high schools.
At a special meeting Thursday evening, the Fargo Board of Education discussed possible means of providing facilities for Fargo high school football games this fall, and for eventually building a new structure.
