Business News | India's Direct Tax Collections Rise 23% to Rs 8.11 Lakh Crore as Non-corporate Tax Drives Growth

The strong growth in direct tax collections was led by non-corporate taxes, securities transaction tax and corporate tax collections, pointing to a broad-based increase in tax receipts during the ongoing financial year.
Gross direct tax collections stood at Rs 9.55 lakh crore as of August 10, up 19.75 per cent from Rs 7.97 lakh crore recorded in the same period of 2025.
Net corporate tax collections also increased, rising to Rs 2.70 lakh crore from Rs 2.26 lakh crore in the year-ago period, a growth of around 19.8 per cent.
Refunds during the period increased 3.79 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1.43 lakh crore, compared with Rs 1.38 lakh crore in the corresponding period last year.
The government's net direct tax collections had stood at Rs 6.59 lakh crore as of August 10, 2025.
