“I think what’s special about this event is that I think of the history of Vallejo,” Fortner said. “Going all the way back to the turn of last century there were rowers racing against each other. A nice crowd gathered for a quick first-to-three points game between Trevor Dunbar with HoopBus and Napa Valley College freshman Davion Orais-Ramsey. However, it was the look on kids’ faces when the bus pulled up that was a “nothing but net” feeling. This year, Vallejo Fest will award grants to Nuevos Caminos, Vallejo Boys and Girls Empowerment Group, Visit Vallejo and Sunset Rotary Club.
