Where horses help hearts heal
['Robin Miller']

Visitors to rural Dixon Saturday learned the program isn’t about riding horses at all.
Instead, visitors watch as participants brush horses, guide them through gentle obstacle courses, and even play games with brightly colored balls and pool noodles.
“This isn’t about riding,” says Denise Wilson, founder and certified equine specialist.
At the heart of the program are the horses — not as tools, but as co-therapists.
Horses help people recognize their own patterns and discover healthier ways of relating to themselves and others, Denise explains.
