The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman has confirmed that a probe is in progress in relation to the death of Paul Moulder.
The inmate, formerly of Knutsford, died on July 18 while serving a sentence in HM Prison Risley in Warrington.
Moulder had brought a steak knife out with him, which he attempted to thrust into the victim’s side.
An independent investigation into Moulder’s death has been launched by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman, which ‘aims to make a significant contribution to safer, fairer custody’.
