Road closures were in place from 7.15am on Monday following reports of a man on a roof in the city centre as emergency services worked to bring the situation to a safe conclusion. Cumbria Police has confirmed that the man safely came down from the building at about 8.20pm that evening. A spokesperson for Cumbria Police thanked the public "for their patience whilst officers worked to resolve this incident safely for all involved." Drivers were advised to avoid the area during the incident as emergency services carried out their work.
