Ronnie Bennett first met Phil Spector in 1963, as a 20-year-old aspiring singer, raised in a world of music. When The Ronettes went on tour, he got Ronnie to stay behind to record songs while her cousin Elaine went off in her place. I was successful at a young age and was always protected, first by my mom and uncles, then Phil Spector. By the session’s end, Bruce Springsteen had turned up, rewritten a song as a duet for Johnny and Ronnie to perform together and the result, 1976’s You Mean So Much To Me recaptured the Ronnie Spector of the 60s. Ronnie Spector has brought her Beyond The Beehive multimedia show to London’s Queen Elizabeth’s Hall.
