Tutu's Ethiopian Table was opened by Tutu Melaku in October 2006 and has emerged as something of a community hub. Last month, however, Ms Melaku announced that the cafe would close on its 20th anniversary on October 31. Now the cafe has shared plans to host a "farewell party" in September. Ms Melaku told the Chronicle: "I would like to invite everyone to come along and celebrate this very special day with us." When she announced her plans to close Tutu's Ethiopian Table in October, she wrote about how she felt she had been "embraced" by the community here and how proud she is to call Reading home.
