The damage prompted outrage last month when large sections of the bench, at Highdown Recreation Ground in Worthing, were "deliberately" sawn off. "Thanks to the fantastic work of our parks team, the bench has been fully restored with new varnished timber, freshly painted sections and a refurbished memorial plaque. The recreation ground was occupied by an unauthorised encampment in June, which later grew to around 25 caravans by early July.
