The latest incident was reported at around 2.40pm on Tuesday, August 11, on the outskirts of Rhiwderin in the Pentre Tai Road area, west of the A467 between Rogerstone and Risca. The wildfire comes as South Wales Fire and Rescue Service continues to deal with several major incidents across the region. Elsewhere, crews remain at the scene of a wildfire in Cwmavon Woods, Blaenavon, which has caused smoke to drift across Newport, Cwmbran and Pontypool. In a separate incident, a large moorland fire near Llangynidr Reservoir is now considered under control, according to Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
