The Caerphilly Interchange project, designed to support sustainable travel and improve regional connections, has been included in the South East Wales Region's 2026–27 Regional Transport Fund allocation and approved as part of the Regional Transport Delivery Plan. Councillor Jamie Pritchard, leader of Caerphilly County Borough Council, welcomed the Welsh Government's continued support. Cllr Pritchard said: "The Plaid Government are fully behind the Caerphilly Interchange, as I fully thought. "But given recent opposition expressed by Plaid locally, I had to write to the Deputy Minister to seek an assurance that they are on board. "The building of the new Caerphilly Interchange is likely to take place under a Plaid administration in Cardiff, and as I said when the new Welsh Government were elected, I will work with them to deliver major infrastructure projects such as the Caerphilly Interchange."
