The announcement from United Utilities comes as the National Drought Group met on Monday to discuss the UK's ongoing heatwave and drought. Vast swathes of the country are also under hosepipe bans as weeks of searing temperatures and next-to-no rain put resources under strain. Bolton is not currently classed as being in drought by the Environment Agency, however, the county is experiencing prolonged dry weather. However, despite this, resources in the North West are coping so far, the region's water provider has said. A United Utilities spokesperson said: "There are no plans to introduce water restrictions in the North West.
