Report from LDR by Moana EllisA Ruapehu councillor is demanding answers from water services contractor Veolia after a major failure left Ohakune without water during the height of the ski season. The critical piece of infrastructure supplies water to the Ohakune Reservoir, the town’s only water supply. “It is staggering that a critical break in the raw water line went unnoticed by Veolia after the earthquake,” Chapman said. Chapman said the incident raises concerns about the way critical water infrastructure is monitored. The chief executive will establish if those questions need to be asked by the CE and staff.
