Lifting the heights in Courtenay Place
[]
Wellington.Scoop
Work has begun on the small white two-storey building on Courtenay Place.
The 14 sites within the CPHA where Mr Bishop proposes to allow doubled heights include two sites on the south side of Courtenay Place near the newly-completed Hyde Lane apartment building.
Hyde Lane is set back behind these two sites – the owners of its apartments will have bought having done their due diligence about what heights were permitted on nearby Courtenay Place.
Substantially taller buildings inside the Courtenay Place heritage area will change its open sunny character.
The 14 sites proposed for high density are not themselves heritage listed buildings, but their low-rise structures are in keeping with the rest of Courtenay Place.
