The Northwest horse and pony region took its battalions to Co Kerry at the weekend and swept all three of the main events. Tommy K won the Dingle Derby, having already won the 14-furlong race on Friday night for the McLaughlins and jockey Billy Roberts. Our Bridget, under Nina Doherty, took the Ladies Derby, while recent purchase A Better Plan was impressive for the Gildeas over the three days. A Better Plan won the Golden Mile and also doubled up with victory in the Open Mile on Friday night. Other local winners over the weekend were Fiadhs Fancy for the Gettigans and Stepaside for the Orrs of Ballyare, capping off a fine weekend for all concerned.
