Mona McSharry breezed into the 100m breaststroke semi-finals at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris. McSharry finished second in her heat in 1:05.97, behind Great Britain’s Angharad Evans, who won in 1:05.45. The Marlins Swimming Club, Ballyshannon graduate McSharry was second at the turn, Italian Benedetta Pilato flicking around in 30.65 seconds. The bronze medal winner in the 100m breaststroke at the 2024 Olympics, also in Paris, McSharry has had a solid summer before these championships. Earlier this year, McSharry - who has finished her studies at the University of Tennessee - won the 100m, 200m and 50m breaststroke events at the Irish Open.
