For years, Reading Festival has followed a regular programme of headline acts on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the August Bank Holiday weekend. But earlier in the summer, the organisers, Festival Republic, applied to vary its licence to allow performances on the main stage only from 5pm to midnight. This would make it similar to Glastonbury Festival, which does have selected big performances ahead of the event getting into full swing. Elisa Miles, chair of the Warren & District Residents Association (WADRA), said: “WADRA is not opposed to Reading Festival. “For more than 15 years, we have worked constructively with Festival Republic to improve the relationship between the Festival and the community.
