Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team was called to Leasowe Bay near the Gun Site on Saturday (August 8), after reports of a swimmer possibly in difficulty.
Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team said the swimmer had been near one of the rock armour groyne posts and that the person who raised the alarm had been unable to relocate them using binoculars.
The search was called off after the swimmer reappeared, having been briefly obscured by the large rock armour structure.
