DJ Shadow is rereleasing his classic album ‘Endtroducing’ and heading on tour to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
Released in September 1996, the record was the debut from the American DJ and record producer, and marked a milestone in instrumental hip-hop.
AdvertisementBlending influences from rock, psychedelia, jazz and more, ‘Endtroducing’ was recorded between DJ Shadow’s home studio, The Glue Factory in San Francisco, and Dan The Automator’s studio, and became the first sample-only album.
Artists including Radiohead have cited it as a source of inspiration too, as did Deftones, who joined forces with DJ Shadow in 2020 to drop a remix for their seminal album ‘White Pony’, titled ‘Black Stallion’.
Now, to celebrate 30 years since the record first dropped, the DJ – real name Joshua Paul Davis – is re-releasing it on September 18.
