Andrew Cuomo called socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani a hypocrite Friday for owning valuable Ugandan property while campaigning to abolish private property rights.
“Being a wealthy landowner with foreign investments, while holding a rent-stabilized apartment in the tightest housing market in the nation is the height of hypocrisy,” Cuomo told the New York Post.
Cuomo, who is running as an independent and trails Mamdani in recent polls, attacked his rival’s working-class persona.
“Zohran Mamdani is a mansion boy living off family wealth.”The 33-year-old Mamdani’s parents, Columbia University Professor Mahmood Mamdani and “Monsoon Wedding” filmmaker Mira Nair, own a five-bedroom villa overlooking Lake Victoria in Uganda.
He lives in a rent-stabilized apartment in Queens despite his family’s wealth.
