For the past decade, Tom McNelly has been running the White Horse pub on Easthampstead Road in Wokingham with his family. However, in May, Tom told this newspaper the family had decided to leave the pub after long-running council roadworks drastically cut footfall and left the White Horse financially "crippled". Tom and Anita kept the White Horse going, but the roadworks finally pushed the business over the brink. One commenter said they had had both their hen party and baby shower at the White Horse, and the pub "holds such happy memories". Tom also said he wants to thank all of the "fantastic" staff who have worked for the White Horse over the years.
