SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness intermittent rainfall and thundershowers over the next several days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warning of brief spells of intense and heavy rain at isolated places. The weather is expected to remain unsettled between August 13 and 16, when rain or thundershowers are likely at many places across J&K, with brief intense showers at isolated locations. Another spell of rain and thundershowers is likely between August 17 and 19, with a possibility of heavy rain and brief intense heavy showers at a few places, especially during the early morning and afternoon hours. The advisory warns that torrential rain or brief intense heavy showers could trigger flash floods, landslides and mudslides in vulnerable areas. Authorities and residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain alert, particularly during periods of intense rainfall, in view of the possibility of flash floods and landslides.
