NCN is applying to the Government of Canada’s Build Communities Strong Fund for an estimated 38-point-9-million-dollar redevelopment project. The proposal includes a modernized Multiplex, a new multi-sport fieldhouse, an esports and digital innovation centre for youth, and new youth, fitness and wellness spaces. The plan also includes new active transportation pathways and several road improvements. As a First Nation applicant, NCN says it could be eligible for up to 100 percent federal cost-sharing. Chief and Council say community engagement and decision-making are central to the process, and are encouraging all band members to complete a survey to show their support for the funding application and suggest changes if needed.
