The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating an active-shooter incident that resulted in one officer being shot following a traffic stop in the southwest community of Spruce Cliff near Edworthy Park. At approximately 11:45 a.m., today, Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, members were conducting a traffic stop when an occupant of the vehicle fired shots, striking one of our officers. Following the shooting, a man fled the vehicle on foot into Edworthy Park and toward the Bow River. It is believed he then carjacked an individual, driving through the park until the vehicle became stuck, at which point he exited the vehicle and resumed on foot. Officers are currently searching Edworthy Park for any additional evidence.
