Barfield, a senior from Las Vegas, enters his third season as a Rainbow Warrior. Now in its 17th season, the Paul Hornung Award is given annually to the most versatile player in college football by the Louisville Sports Commission in memory of the late football legend and Louisville native Paul Hornung. Barfield is just one of two players from the Mountain West Conference selected to the watch list. The winner of the Paul Hornung Award will be honored at the annual dinner in Louisville, Kentucky in March 2027.
