A substantial renovation 15 years ago had already introduced a loft conversion and side return, creating a practical layout with strong foundations. However, the very contemporary finishes had started to date and felt at odds with the original character of the property. Having lived in the house for three years, interior designer Lauren Campbell had a clear understanding of how the rooms worked and what she wanted to change. The north-facing living area had been painted in a cool, grey-based white, while the fireplace and sliding doors were also grey, making the space feel colder and smaller than it was. The gently mottled finish responds better to changing light and has made the ground floor feel noticeably warmer and more expansive.
