Speaking to the media after a meeting of the Assembly Petitions Committee at the Assembly Committee Hall, Raghurama Krishna Raju said the state government had allotted the land to AP Refractories in 1981 for setting up an industrial unit. However, after the company became defunct, the land now faces the risk of being attached by banks. He said the committee discussed the issue of AP Refractories’ land as well as the pending rehabilitation (R) cards related to the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. Assembly Petitions Committee member and MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao said the valuable land, located along National Highway-16, was in danger of being lost following the closure of AP Refractories. He said the committee had raised objections to the process of attaching land that had originally been allotted for industrial development.
