Universal Pictures has parted ways with Gareth Edwards on the untitled sequel to Jurassic World: Rebirth, the live-action dino creature feature he directed last year. "We had an incredible experience working with Gareth on Jurassic World: Rebirth," Universal said in a statement to the trade. Rebirth earned a visual effects Oscar nomination at the 98th Academy Awards, the first such Academy recognition for a Jurassic film since The Lost World. David Koepp, who wrote Rebirth and the 1993 Jurassic Park, is writing the script for the sequel. Rebirth opened July 2, 2025 and took $872 million worldwide, the fourth Jurassic World film and the seventh in the series.
