Newswise — Aug. 11, 2026—New business filings in Colorado increased sharply in the second quarter of 2026, rising both from the previous quarter and a year earlier, according to a new report from the University of Colorado Boulder and the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office. Colorado recorded 64,243 new entity filings in the second quarter, an increase of 25.5% year over year and 17.6% from the first quarter. The Quarterly Business & Economic Indicators report is produced by the Leeds Business Research Division at CU Boulder on behalf of the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office. “Business filings provide a helpful gauge of economic health and opportunity,” said Brian Lewandowski, executive director of the Business Research Division.
