People in Austria – and across other parts of Europe – will be able to see a solar eclipse on the evening of Wednesday, August 12th. On the evening of August 12th, people in Austria will be able to witness the most impressive partial solar eclipse (Sonnenfinsternis) in decades. Observers in some parts of Europe will experience a total solar eclipse, plunging them into complete darkness for a few minutes. Solar eclipse glasses have a special film that filters out enough sunlight to allow safe observation. In Graz, the Department of Astrophysics and Geophysics at the University of Graz on the Schloßberg is offering the chance to observe the solar eclipse using eclipse glasses and telescopes.
