Hyderabad: The Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TGTDC) has expedited the establishment of the Buddha Digital Museum at Buddhavanam in Nalgonda district, which officials believe will become one of the country’s most prominent Buddhist tourism destinations. Developed with the support of the Union Tourism Ministry under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme, the digital museum is being built at a cost of Rs 25 crore. Officials said the project aims to create a world-class digital experience by blending spirituality, cultural heritage, education and entertainment. The digital journey will cover the spread of Buddhism across South East Asia, beginning from India. Officials termed it the first-of-its-kind digital Buddhist experience centre in India, offering a unique combination of history, innovation and spirituality.
