The North Clare beach was one of eight Clare beaches and marinas to be awarded the Blue Flag this year, with Lahinch beach losing out due to ongoing water quality issues. “If it was Lahinch that had the Blue Flag, they would have been out here weeks ago,” said one local who asked not to be identified. “The summer is nearly over and tourists who drive past cannot see the Blue flag flying. “The Blue Flag is currently flying adjacent to the Lifeguard Station,” said the spokesperson. “Beach infrastructural works are due to be completed shortly, following which the Blue Flag will be relocated to its designated flagpole location.
