Azim Parvez received a Criminal Behaviour Order at Harrogate Magistrates Court, which prohibited him from using the 999 line unless in a genuine emergency for five years. This measure followed his admission in June last year at Skipton Magistrates Court for persistently using a public communication network to cause annoyance and inconvenience from October 2, 2024, to January 24, 2025. In one instance, he made 18 spurious calls to North Yorkshire Police in a single evening, consuming over eight hours of staff time. Inspector Paul Crabtree of the Skipton Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Parvez has persistently targeted our control room, taking valuable resources away from genuine emergency situations. "We hope this order granted by the court will help curb his concerning behaviour including the targeting of vulnerable people for money.”
