Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, a Catholic priest serving communities in Kogi State, was found dead beside a roadside with severe machete wounds, raising fears over clergy safety and possible links to criminal networks. The priest serving at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe, Kogi State, was found dead along Church Road in Ajaokuta County on July 29, 2026. The late priest was a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu County and was born in Egbe, Yagba West County, Kogi state.
