Bengaluru: GBA Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao on Tuesday warned that owners of vacant sites here would face fines ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 1 lakh if they failed to clean their properties.
He directed owners to ensure that their vacant sites are cleaned by August 15.
Under Clause 18(1)(b) of the Solid Waste Management Bye-laws, 2020, owners are legally required to maintain vacant sites in a clean and hygienic condition.
If vacant sites are not cleaned by August 15, members of the public may report them by sending photographs along with their GPS coordinates to the GBA’s WhatsApp chatbot.
Rao advised owners to construct a fence or compound wall around cleaned vacant sites to prevent unauthorised dumping of waste in future.
