Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu on Tuesday said the Telangana Legislative Assembly should prepare a new rulebook incorporating updated regulations, alleging that the existing rulebook had been altered during the previous BRS government's tenure. He urged committee chairpersons and members to work together to draft a revised rulebook to ensure the smooth and effective functioning of the Assembly. He said the Ethics Committee has a crucial role not only in ensuring adherence to Assembly rules but also in upholding the dignity of the House. Its recommendations, he added, should promote transparency and help make the Telangana Legislative Assembly a model institution. Referring to the Ethics Committee, he said such bodies have evolved in parliamentary democracies across the world to uphold public trust and strengthen confidence in democratic institutions.
