At least 60 people have been killed and 50 others wounded in communal clashes in South Sudan’s Warrap State, local officials said on Monday, August 10, 2026. Warrap State Minister for Information and Communication William Wol Mayom said 37 members of the Pan Ariik sub-clan, 11 members of Apuk Padoc and 12 people from the attacking side were killed. He said the attackers targeted Pan Ariik cattle camps in coordination with rivals from Alabek and Majak Juer. On August 5, national lawmakers called for the ministers of interior and defence and the governor of Warrap State to explain the government’s response to the escalating violence. Bona Malual, head of civil society organizations in Warrap State, condemned the clashes and warned that continued communal violence could undermine peace efforts and preparations for South Sudan’s elections.
