The Mineworkers Union of Namibia (MUN) reinforced its commitment to safeguarding labour rights and driving long-term industry sustainability during its participation at the 2026 Namibia Mining Expo, which concluded in Windhoek on 6 August. Addressing industry stakeholders, corporate executives, and policymakers, the union highlighted the central role that workers play in maintaining high productivity, ensuring workplace safety, and advancing responsible mining practices across the country. The union further highlighted that responsible mining extends beyond mineral production and economic returns. MUN emphasised the importance of investing in continuous learning, reskilling and workforce development to ensure that mineworkers are equipped to participate fully in an evolving industry. By investing in workers, we strengthen our industry, our communities and Namibia’s long-term development,” he said.
