Government Whip and Peddapalli MLA Chinthakunta Vijayaramana Rao on Tuesday said the District Government Hospital has provided medical services worth over Rs 131 crore during the past two years, reflecting the Congress government’s commitment to strengthening public healthcare. He said medical equipment worth ₹40 lakh had been procured for departments including ophthalmology, orthopaedics, pulmonology, ENT, dermatology and dentistry. A Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU), established at a cost of nearly Rs 50 lakh, has treated around 990 newborns over the past year. Vijayaramana Rao said the hospital had also added a new ambulance worth Rs 20 lakh. More than 5.12 lakh patients also received free medicines.
