Texas Game Wardens said the incidents happened between May and July 2026 at the nature preserve on Lake Worth. One of the dead alligators was a young animal that had been tagged by refuge manager Jared Wood as part of a wildlife study. A second dead alligator was recovered from the water with injuries that officials believe may indicate someone tried to remove its head. Texas Game Wardens and Lake Worth marshals have increased patrols in the area as the investigation continues.
