Mulugu: State Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Rural Water Supply, Women and Child Welfare Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka called on citizens to actively participate in the State government’s Jalasiri programme, stressing that rainwater conservation and groundwater recharge are essential for tackling future water challenges. Seethakka directed officials to conduct gram sabhas within two days to identify and approve development works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). She said priority should be given to gram panchayat buildings, women’s self-help group buildings, Anganwadi centres, cattle sheds, milk sheds, farm ponds and individual farmer asset creation. Expressing concern over possible drought conditions due to El Niño, the Minister advised farmers to cultivate climate-resilient dry crops and use available water judiciously. She assured that the government would fully support Jalasiri works through MGNREGS and urged officials, public representatives, women’s groups and farmers to work together to transform villages into model communities.
