The toll from floods in Assam has risen to 100, with two deaths reported in the past 24 hours, the state disaster management authority said on Sunday. Almost 1.4 lakh persons have been affected by the floods in 10 districts: Golaghat, Sivasagar, Hojai, Darrang, Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Karbi Anglong, Charaideo, Nagaon and Biswanath. The Dhansiri river at Golaghat and Numaligarh, and the Kushiyara river at Sribhumi, are flowing above the danger mark. Nearly 49,100 people are staying in 125 relief camps and relief distribution centres in six districts, the news agency reported.
