The NFL is amending its replay review process to allow for an additional team staffer to trigger a challenge, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert. "Traditionally, head coaches have been the only member of a team that can declare a challenge by throwing the red flag," Seifert wrote Monday. The new rule could ease the burden on head coaches a bit. Theoretically, a sideline staffer who's not dialed in to every play will have enough distance to make a more informed ruling. Granted, Seifert posited that "the head coach is likely to be heavily involved in the decision to challenge" anyway.
