The store at 698 Foxhall Road, which drew objections from local councils as well as nearby residents have requested planning permission for an extension for both the shop and upstairs flat.
If approved, the convenience store will be allowed a small corner extension on the ground floor using the same materials as the existing property.
Within the planning documents, the applicant says: "Overall, it is considered that the proposal does not harm the local character of the area.
This pre-planning application complies with all the statutory development plan policies, including the saved Local Plan policies"The retrospective application for the homes were approved in February by East Suffolk Council but did face objections from Rushmere Parish Council as well as local home owners over traffic fears.
Residents said that they had found it difficult to get off their driveways during busy periods of the day - including school pick-up and drop-off times.
