OverviewTamil Nadu is set to pass a separate resolution in the Legislative Assembly opposing NEET and urging the Centre to abolish the uniform entrance exam for undergraduate medical admissions. The Assembly will urge the Centre to amend relevant central laws, including the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, to discontinue NEET. Tamil Nadu has proposed using Class 12 marks for medical admissions in the state. The resolution also recalls the Tamil Nadu Admission to Undergraduate Medical Degree Courses Bill, 2021, which sought exemption from NEET but has not received presidential assent. The move renews Tamil Nadu's long-standing opposition to the national medical entrance examination, according to an India Today report.
